Museos Medellín_
[The ask_ ] A personal project that aims to build a proposal that solves the existence of a cultural platform that allows the people in Medellín city to access top quality information in cultural subjects.
[The Role_] Product designer, brand designer, prototype.
[The Timeline] 6 months.
The challenge_
In a city seeking international transformation, what are the main points of reference?
After the violence of the 80s and 90s The city of Medellin learned that one of the biggest factors in transforming a society is through cultural approaches. However, it is also one of the lowest budgets the city has, so how can we help through technology to improve this process.
Decrease violence and contribute to culture through an app that consolidates the city's broad cultural offerings. Paid and unpaid events and a rewards program that connects public and private entities under a single proposal.
The process_
A deepest UX research - We studied the city context to look for a room to propose an opportunity. The opportunity is borns in the culture's needs and its offering.
-
Research: find out as much information as possible about where you live and what information is available to support the opportunity.
-
Benchmark: Local and international technological offerings are available to help solve the problem locally.
-
Find who the user is targeting and who is willing to use these tools.
-
User Persona: Locals, young adults, and foreigners who visit and know the city and its history.
-
Interview process: a script was made in order to collect insights to build the most relevant elements of the proposal, in this case, an app.
-
A lean canvas: to focus on the proposal, a model to help structure the idea from a purely business point of view - how the project can be better executed and sold.
-
Empathy map: Visualizing user attitudes and behaviors in an empathy map helps us align on a deep understanding of end users. This also revealed any holes in existing user data.
-
Information architecture: The Information Architecture (IA), or organization, of a website or application is critical, because it determines whether or not users are successful in finding desired information and completing tasks.
-
User flows/ wiereflows: useful for documenting complex workflows and user tasks.
-
User interface.
-
Prototype: A hypothesis — a candidate design solution to evaluate/ or test if our solution works.
-
Guerilla testing: to evaluate the viability of the MVP.
