A trust project_

[the ask_]PII on the web is a top privacy concern. 50%+ of all client´s feedback is about requests to  remove  PII. 80% of requests for removal are regarding takedown personal images.

[The role_] Product designer, illustrator and prototype designer.

[The timeline_] 6 months

The challenge_

A challenge to explore and design around user privacy issues.
An opportunity to help to “flip” the privacy narrative by showing itself as a powerful tool to protect privacy.

The process_

Sketch some ideas for content ‘diagnostic’, personal data dashboards / reports, content removal and high fidelity wireframes to test with end user for early concept validation.

  • Deliver appropriate outcomes.Design around privacy-focused critical user journeys. Explore at privacy touchpoints.

  • Design for the context > Test for global context.Design with progressive disclosure. Give users an easy path to meaningful choices.

  • Craft with care. Optimize for comprehension. Promote and enforce consistency. Provide control but not too many controls.

We implemented de double diamond.

Discovery phase: User flows and entry points; First, we needed to understand where the problem lived.

Define: understanding the client's needs and the business perspective, we define a specific approach

Develop: We developed some flows and transformed them with rapid UI- and Prototype

Instead of delivering, first, we tested our prototypes with users to evaluate their reactions according to a specific questionary. -

We iterated.- Star again until we define an MVP solution not just to solve the problem but also we evaluate the tech impact.

The solution_

  • Policy removal: A solution to remove informations from danger sites who expose PII.- Approaches: bulk removal + singel removal

  • Feedback: flag information from the user providing feedback and immediately solution to the user.

  • Self-help: answering an immediate path where the user can flag information and provide context to take down specific information.
